When I ask somebody about their market and they say "Omaha", I know they're in trouble. Even "all the high income homeowners in Omaha" - too big. The very best favor most marketers can do for themselves is to narrow, narrow, narrow their focus.
Here are some criteria Dan says to consider:
Size itself--is it a market wort investing in?
Ability to reach the market affordably--what do they read/look at?
Ability to reach the market efficiently
A known responsive market--is anyone else selling to that market?
A market with a reason to be responsive NOW--what's in the news--what are the pain points?
Affinity with the market--are you one of them or can you team up with one of them?
Understanding of the market (Empathy)
