When I first met Ben Glass I was very frustrated with my printing and graphic design business. I had no vision or direction. Ben invited me to his office and explained what he has learned from Glazer-Kennedy style marketing and how it has worked for him and tribe. He actually gave me some of Dan’s books to read. Wow. It changed my whole way of thinking. Since then, instead of closing down we moved our printing shop to a better location and now I’m hiring people! Kia A. Arian Zine Graphics

You Have the Power to Change YOUR World

When you hear people say “we need to change the world,” it seems like an impossible task. Changing the world is a great concept, but it is also something that is overwhelming. It is hard to imagine that the things you do could actually make an impact. According to Warren MacDonald, though, there are steps you can take to change your world.

Mr. MacDonald knows what it is like to face challenges. In 1997, he spent two days trapped under a one ton boulder in a backcountry accident. As a result, he lost both of his legs. Today, Mr. MacDonald preaches change management and “out of the box” thinking. It is this type of mentality that led him to become the first double above-knee amputee to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.

In Mr. MacDonald’s article, “It’s your Move…FIVE steps you can take TODAY to change YOUR world,” he states, “if we don’t change our behavior and within that, our actions, we’ll be in so much trouble it doesn’t bear thinking.” The good news is that it is possible to change, but you have to take immediate action.

Here is a summary of the five steps to take:

  1. Don’t spend your free time watching television. Mr. MacDonald advises that you should either turn off the TV or get rid of it all together. In his own words, “TV is making us dumb; it’s making us lazy and it’s keeping us from communicating.”
  2. Exercise your body. If your body is in shape, you will be much better prepared to handle challenges that come your way.
  3. Consume organic food that is locally grown. Even though organic food is more expensive than the alternative, many believe that it is well worth it. The industry for organic food is growing tremendously, as more people are refusing to eat food that is filled with poisons.
  4. Take control of your spending. Mr. MacDonald encourages people to spend their money with a purpose. For example, shop locally, invest wisely and bank in your community.
  5. Get to know your neighbors. “You can’t build a community with buildings and roads and landscapes alone; it takes people,” Mr. MacDonald says in his article. People within the community must take the time to get to know each other and care about one another.

While changing the entire world might sound like a task that is too monumental to take on, changing your world is definitely achievable.
